Christmas time is here!

This has been the best weekend ever!  I've made Christmas cookies and paper snowflakes.  I put the tree up and all my Christmas decorations.  I've watched Charlie Brown Christmas and Nanny McPhee.  I've listened to Christmas music constantly, and it's been snowing like crazy outside!

Grades

So....I've been calculating and posting grades this week.  One of my students went off the deep end (and over MY head) because he got an A-....seems that an A- vs. an A will keep him from getting a job someday.  Who knew!  I actually had a D in chemistry on my transcripts and managed to land this dandy job.  If I'd only known that I could've whined and threatened litigation to my professor back in the day... I might have talked him into a C!   I mean, he did wear his house slippers to class every day and his lessons consisted of telling us step-by-step directions of punching in problems on a "reverse polish" calculator.  Forget teaching us chemistry-he must have received a new calculator for Christmas and was obsessed with it!  You think I'm kidding, but this is the truth.  I should go back and demand restitution. No telling what kind of career I could've had were it not for that D....

Genetics

There is really only one genetic and environment combination that makes you you.  Are we lucky or unlucky to have certain genetic traits?  No; we are who we are because of them.  And we are who we are because of the chromosomes our parents inherited, and the chromosomes their parents inherited.  Just one more paradigm in the complex mingling of God's eternal foresight and our free will.
This is what I think about during my study breaks in finals week.  That and knitting!

This is one of my all time favorite movie scenes.  Who can argue with Marie on this one?

The first post

Welcome to the blog!
This is our first foray into public hilarity, so be prepared for sparkling wit and nonstop tomfoolery!
Today, my shenanigans have centered mostly around baking chocolate chip cookies, writing literature summaries about genetics, and trying to figure out how to design blog templates.
Keep up the shenanigans!
